Lawyer appeals to correct flaw in FAQ

The BCCI’s former legal advisor, Ushanath Banerjee has appealed to the Lodha committee to review a part of the clarifications issued on Wednesday concerning the term of office-bearers.

CHENNAI:The BCCI’s former legal advisor, Ushanath Banerjee has appealed to the Lodha committee to review a part of the clarifications issued on Wednesday concerning the term of office-bearers. He said according to the original order, a state association official could serve nine years in the state and nine more in the BCCI. Now, the cumulative term is nine years.

“I believe that such fresh modus as informed on January 12 is not merely a complete departure from the prudent stand of qualifying the “disqualifications”, but also misconstruing the expression “OR” in the solemn (SC) order of January 3. I would humbly state that construing the word “OR” as “AND” is misleading,” Banerjee said in a statement. Talking to Express, he added, “It was said that the term could be nine+nine, but the FAQs says otherwise. This should be corrected.”
