India wins toss, elects to bat against Australia in Women's World Cup semifinal

Mithali Raj won the toss and chose to bat first, as a rain delay forced the game to be reduced to 42 overs a side.

DERBY: India won the toss and chose to bat first against Australia in the ICC Women's World Cup semifinal here today after a rain delay.

Heavy rains that lasted for over two hours has forced the game to be reduced to 42 overs a side.

India fielded an unchanged side from the last game, while skipper Meg Lanning returned for Australia in place of Rachael Haynes.

India played the final of the World Cup only once in 2005 edition in South Africa, where they lost to Australia.
