MOSCOW: Russia midfielder Alan Dzagoev overcame a right hamstring injury to return to training Tuesday as the team prepare for their last-16 World Cup match with Spain.

The 28-year-old CSKA Moscow playmaker was injured during Russia's opening match, a 5-0 win over Saudi Arabia, and did not play in their two other group games.

The Russian team press service said the team did not suffer any injuries in the 3-0 defeat to Uruguay in their final group match on Monday, but Zenit St Petersburg midfielder Alexander Erokhin missed the practice session due to a minor foot problem.

Russia, who have already exceeded pre-tournament expectations by qualifying for the knockout stage, will face 2010 World Cup winners Spain at Moscow's Luzhniki Stadium on Sunday.
