CHENNAI: Junior national billiards and snooker champion S Shrikrishna of Tamil Nadu made a scintillating break of 69 and clinched the match against Shailender Dangwal 4-1 in the Phoenix Serene Spaces 7th National 6-red snooker tournament on Sunday.

Although Shrikrishna lost the first frame, he bounced back strongly to ensure victory. G Prabhu, the runner-up of this year’s state ranking snooker championship and Vadivel of Tamil Nadu blanked their opponents 4-0 in first-round matches.

Pradosh Ranjan Paul’s unbeaten century helped Tamil Nadu post 244 for 6 in 90 overs against Chhattisgarh on the first day of the Cooch Behar Trophy, U-19 tournament played at Shaheed Veer Narayan Singh international stadium, Raipur. This was Pradosh’s second ton of the competition. The left-hander also raised 111 runs in 45.1 overs with Radhakrishnan for the fifth wicket.
