VIJAYAWADA: The State government has decided to take up infrastructure and other development works to a tune of Rs 9,190 crore in Amaravati. During a meeting organised by Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu  over the progress of works in the capital city, Amaravati Development Corporation (ADC) chairman and managing director Lakshmi Parthasarathy informed the CM about the development works being carried out in Amaravati.

While enquiring about the financial resources of the ADC for taking up the development works, Naidu said that the ADC should get self reliant financially. For the purpose, the government will allocate a few acres of land to the ADC, he said.The Chief Minister said that the government would organise a two-day workshop with consultants engaged in construction of capital city to discuss the best practices and to adopt the same in Amaravati.

Govt to take public opinion on City Square
The Chief Minister directed the officials to take feedback from the denizens of Vijayawada over the City Square to come up in the city. While reviewing the City Square project, Naidu suggested the officials to organise roadshows in the city and to explain the public about the benefits of the project and also to take the suggestions of people on the project.

Boating and sailing centre in Krishna river
As Costa Mareena has come forward to set up a boating and sailing centre in Krishna river, the government is planning to organise international sailing competitions and give training to fishermen in handling modern boats. The officials informed that Costa Mareena would provide employment opportunities to fishermen apart from helping the development of water tourism.

Urban housing schemes to be expedited

J35,000 crore will be spent on urban housing schemes in the next two years, said Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu while conducting a review meeting on urban housing
Of the 3.67 lakh houses sanctioned under urban housing scheme, tenders called for 2.96 lakh
Tender process is in progress for 72,000 houses
Construction for 1.04 lakh houses commenced
595 massive machines are bieng used and 9,034 workers are involved in the housing project works

1,179 engineers working for housing project
11,001 tonnes of steel has been arranged
16,799 tonnes of cement has been kept ready
CM to review urban housing every week
Vitrified tiles flooring for every house in NTR Nagars (urban housing project)
Urban housing project being implemented in 87 urban local bodies
