45 from state win police medals

HYDERABAD: Five police officers from the state, including senior IPS officers Rajiv Trivedi, RP Thakur and V Venugopala Krishna, have been selected for the President's Police Medal for Disting

HYDERABAD: Five police officers from the state, including senior IPS officers Rajiv Trivedi, RP Thakur and V Venugopala Krishna, have been selected for the President's Police Medal for Distinguished Service on the occasion of Independence Day. Six IPS officers were among the 32 policemen and officers awarded the Police Medal for Meritorious Service and two the Police Medal for Gallantry.

The following IPS officers have won the medals:

Distinguished Service: Rajiv Trivedi , IPS, special director of AP Police Academy;  RP Thakur, IPS, director-general, Drugs and Copyrights, Drug Control Admn Dept; V Venugopala Krishna, IPS, IG (PTO); P Madhusudhana Rao, ASP of Guntur Rural; Syed Sirajuddin, inspector (SIB).

Meritorious Service:  RS Praveen Kumar, JCP (SB); V Venkata Srinivasa Rao, APPA joint director; Atul Singh, DIG (Rlys): Mahesh Muralidhar Bhagwat, JCP (Adm): Swati Lakra, DIG (V & E) and A Abraham Lincoln, ACB joint director.

Gallantry: M Kistaiah, ACP, Mirchowk; AS Mohammed Ismail, ACP, Santoshnagar; M Madhusudan Reddy, ACP (Cyber Crimes), Cyberabad.

Additional DGP (CID) SV Ramana Murthy will be presented last year's President's Police Medal for Distinguished Service by the chief minister here on Monday. Another senior IPS officer, VSK Kaumudi, is another recipient of last year's medal.
