Petroleum minister S Jaipal Reddy promised Monday to take up the issue of creating a separate ministry for OBC welfare and development with Prime Minister Manmohan Singh soon. He also announced that he would extend his support to secure statutory powers for the National Backward Class Commission.
The AP Backward Classes Association organised a grand felicitation for Jaipal Reddy for providing 27 per cent reservations to OBCs in allotment of petroleum and LPG retail dealerships at Ravindra Bharthi here on Monday.
Representatives from more than hundred organisations participated in the programme.
He said the government included caste column in the census which will help analyse social backwardness and form welfare policies.
