Campaign against TTD launched

‘Janapada Vruthikalakarula Sangham’ (JVS) will submit one lakh signatures, collected from people in 1,500 villages in the district, to pressurise the TTD to revoke its order reducing cultural programmes from 1,080 to 576 per annum, to the executive officer of TTD.

Speaking to mediapersons here on Sunday, JVS district committee president, Pulimamidi Yadagiri said that after a long struggle by JVS, TTD had agreed and issued orders to invite 90 bhajan troupes every month (annually 1,080) from the district to perform Akhanda Harinama Sankeerthanams being organised by TTD on the hills, so as to encourage the local district folk artists. This was in 2010. But now the TTD, had issued an order reducing the number of bhajan programmes to 48 each month.
