The annual "Rajiv Gandhi Sadbhavana Run" would be organised in Hyderabad on August 20 to commemorate the birth anniversary of the former prime minister, Rajya Sabha member V Hanumantha Rao has said.
Hanumantha Rao told reporters here on Sunday that the run would be flagged off at 7.35 am from four points in the state capital -- Dr BR Ambedkar Statue (Tank Bund), Babu Jagjivan Ram Statue (Nizam College), Mahatma Gandhi Statue (Secunderabad) and Jawaharlal Nehru Statue (Abids).
"Several athletes are expected to take part in the run, which is being organised to spread the message of communal harmony and also remind the contribution of Rajiv Gandhi to sports," Rao said.
The run would culminate at the Rajiv Gandhi Statue at Somajiguda at 9.30 p.m. where chief minister N Kiran Kumar Reddy and PCC chief Botcha Satyanarayana would address the participants.
The chief minister would present cash awards of Rs 1000 per month for the next 12 months to two best athletes from boys and girls on behalf of Hanumantha Rao.
