The Patamata police on Wednesday arrested Vamsi Krishna for murdering his lover Mounica by offering her a soft drink mixed with a poisonous substance.
Police said Vamsi and Mounica who were classmates while doing their MBA in a college at Eluru, fell in love. He belongs to Dwarakatirumala in West Godavari, while Mounica hailed from East Godavari district.
On knowing their son’s love affair, his parents refused to perform the marriage of Vamsi with Mounica and sent him to Vijayawada for a job.
Though Vamsi maintained distance from her following his parents’ refusal to their marriage proposal, the girl started forcing him to marry her. She met Vamsi in Vijayawada on Aug 2 and brought pressure on him to marry her. Vamsi took her to Tadepalligudem on a bike on August 4 by promising to marry her. After offering a soft drink mixed with a poisonous substance, he left the place.
