A day before the court is to pronounce its order on his bail petition, Karnataka legislator Gali Somasekhara Reddy was caught with Rs 15,000 cash in his barrack in the Cherlapally central prison on Thursday.
He is currently lodged in the jail in cash-for-bail scam involving his brother and mining baron Gali Janardhan Reddy.
During an inspection conducted by the prison authorities in the Manasa Block, Somasekhara Reddy was found in possession of Rs 15,000 against the rules.
Officials also found two mobile phones in his possession.
Though officials confirmed the seizure of money, they did not confirm finding mobile phones in his possession.
The seizure of cash comes close on the heels of the controversy surrounding alleged preferential treatment to some VIP prisoners in the prison just a couple of days ago.
