Harassed by employer, 2 girls end lives

Allegedly harassed by a wholesale dealer and his manager, two young women committed suicide by jumping in front of a running train within Gunathota railway station limits in Vizianagaram district on Sunday. They were identified as U Sunitha (18) and R Adilakshmi (17), both residents of Jagannadhapuram village, near Bobbili town.

According to a complaint lodged by the victim’s parents, Sunitha and Adilakshmi were working in a wholesale shop at the Market Centre in Bobbili. They resorted to the extreme step due to alleged harassment by shop owner S Chandrasekhar and manager Neelakantham who reportedly sought sexual favours. Unable to bear their harassment, the two young women ended their lives by jumping in front of the Nanded-Sambalpur Express on Sunday morning.
