Sullurpet to get facelift at Rs 12 crore

 The finance minister, who flagged off a Prachara Ratham to give a wide publicity to the upcoming Flamingo Festival here on Sunday, said that more faclities of International standards would come up in the town for tourists for which an 11- acre site had already been acquired.

 He also released brochures and leaflets for the three-day Flamingo Festival, which will be inaugurated by Union tourism minister K Chiranjeevi at Sullurpet on January 8.

 Speaker Nandendla Manohar is likely to participate in the valedictory of the festival on January 10, he said.

 The state government has sanctioned `2 crore for the development of Sullurpet municipality, the minister said, adding that the fund will be spent on construction of municipal office building and completion of 22 pending water supply schemes, improving drainage facility, etc.

 Responding to the plea of Sulurpet MLA P Venkataratnam for taking up the construction of a bridge on the road linking the town with national highway, Anam said the governement is considering an `8- crore proposal pertaining to the bridge works.

 District collector B Sridhar said a seminar on development of Pulicat lake and various cultural programmes will be organised as part of the festival.

 MLC V Narayana Reddy, DRO Rami Reddy, Nellore RDO Madhavilatha and others were present.
