Chiru signs first file giving funds for Kakatiya Fest

Assuming office as the minister of state for tourism with independent charge on Thursday, K Chiranjeevi claimed that his ‘glamour quotient’ and experience in the Telugu tinsel town would be an added advantage for the tourism sector, which has long been neglected.

He signed the first file sanctioning `25 lakh for the ‘Kakatiya Festival’ being organised in Warangal to highlight the  historical importance and cultural grandeur of the city.

He promised to develop another scenic place in the state like Paapi Kondalu, which are on the verge of submergence due to the Polavaram project. He would try to increase tourist arrivals from abroad and ease restrictions for film shootings across the country.

“India has everything, from mountains to backwaters. But we are not utilising them fully to attract foreign tourists. Currently, India receives only 0.65 percent of tourists in the world. If we make it to 1 percent then it would be a big achievement for us,” said Chiranjeevi.
