A day after the henchmen of Tollywood actor-producer M Mohan Babu attacked members of Brahmin community, the Banjara Hills police registered cases against both parties based on their counter complaints on Thursday.
According to police, while Mohan Babu’s manager lodged a complaint alleging that some persons, said to be from the Brahmin community, were involved in pelting stones on the actor’s house, the Brahmin organisations lodged a complaint stating Mohan Babu’s henchmen attacked them brutally.
The assistant commissioner of police (ACP), Banjara Hills Division, E Shanker Reddy told Express that the Banjara Hills police registered cases against both the groups following their complaints.
Mohan Babu’s manager alleged in the complaint that 15 persons said to be from the Brahmin community rushed to Mohan Babu’s house in Filmnagar on Wednesday night and started throwing stones on the house damaging some windowpanes and furniture partially. As Mohan Babu’s wife was alone in the house when the attack took place, to protect the property, some persons working in the neighbourhood shops came out and tried to prevent the mob.
On the other hand, Ravi Kumar Sarma of a Brahmin organisation alleged in the counter complaint that the henchmen of the actor had attacked the Brahmins who went to the actor’s house to protest against the screening of the film Denikaina Ready.
Cases were registered against both parties under section 324 (voluntarily causing hurt by dangerous weapons), 506 (punishment for criminal intimidation), 448 (punishment for house-trespass) and 427 (mischief causing damage) of the IPC.
A few days ago, the Cyberabad police registered a case against the film’s lead actor Vishnu, his father M Mohan Babu, director G Nageshwar Reddy and comedian Brahmanandam following a direction by a court. A student, Pavan Kumar, from Malkajgiri filed a court case alleging that the film depicted Brahmins in poor light and insulting manner.
