Rs 63 crore sanctioned for making 32 rural roads

Chief minister N Kiran Kumar Reddy will tour the district for three days in the first week of December.

After reviewing arrangements with officials for the chief minister’s tour, finance minister Anam Ramnarayana Reddy said on Sunday that Kiran Kumar Reddy will participate in various other programmes, apart from Indiramma Bata.

The panchyath raj department has been sanctioned `62.95 crore for the construction of 32 roads in rural areas of the district under the Grameena Sadak Yojana and under various state government schemes, he said.

After enquiring about the status of on-going irrigation works under Somasila, Kandeleru and Servepalle balancing reservoirs, Kanigiri reservoir, and Sangam and Nellore barrages, the minister directed the officials to complete the pending works by the end of November and keep them ready for inauguration during the chief minister’s visit.

The minister also enquired about the National Rural Employment Guarantee Scheme (NREGS) and asked the District Water Management Agency (DWMA) officials to take steps for providing job cards to the all beneficiaries under the scheme.

The minister asked the district collector to prepare a list of tribal who do not posses any land. These tribals will get land during the sixth phase of land distribution programme, he said.

The finance minister said the chief minister is interested in interacting with the beneficiaries of various welfare schemes to get direct feedback from them.

Collector B Sridhar said as many as six interaction programmes with fishermen,  SHG women, NREGS workers, tenant farmers, tribals and beneficiaries under Rajiv Yuva Kiranalu have been planned for the chief minister during his tour.

In-charge joint collector Lakshmi Kantham, DRO B Rami Reddy,  DRDA PD Venkatasubbaiah and others were present.
