Nellore MP Mekapati Rajamohan Reddy has predicted mid- term polls for both Parliament and Assembly in May 2013. He was speaking at a meeting held to welcome Yaddala Madhusudhan Reddy, a prominent TDP leader from Chillakur mandal, and his followers, into YSRC, on Sunday.
The MP said there was political instability both at the Center and the state.
Many MPs and MLAs in the state are eager to join YSRC, which will ultimately result in mid-term polls by May next year, he said.
Stating that West Bengal chief minister Mamatha Benerjee is determined to move a ‘no confidence motion’ against the UPA government, he said the fate of the Congress- led alliance may be decided during the ensuing winter session of Parliament.
Even the Congress party is prepared for mid-term polls as it thinks this is the right time to go for elections, fearing any delay would cost the party dearly, he said.
TDP chief N Chandra Babu Naidu has lost creditability among people, he said and predicted that YSRC will secure 200 plus Assembly seats and 35 Lok Sabha seats in the next elections.
Kovur MLA Nallapureddy Prasannakumar Reddy, who presided over the meeting, stressed the need for setting up a committee with senior party leaders to decide on admitting leaders from other parties.
This is needed to prevent entry of tainted politicians entering YSRC, he said.
