NDA not to form alternative government even if Ii wins FDI vote

The BJP-led opposition alliance will not be ready to form an alternative government at the Centre even if it wins the vote on the foreign direct investment issue in Parliament, BJP senior leader and MP M Venkaiah Naidu has said.

Talking with reporters on Wednesday, he said that with the Congress-led ruling conglomeration, United Progressive Alliance, agreeing to voting on FDI under Rule 184, the BJP would make floor coordination with all opposition parties in the both Houses of Parliament.

But some UPA constituents changed their stand on FDI and  decided to support the government to prevent the NDA from coming to power. “We will, therefore, leave the matter to people,’’ he said.

The BJP leader alleged that the UPA was unnecessarily raking up the fear of communalism to keep its allies on its side. “The issue of FDI has nothing to do with communalism and the BJP-led NDA has taken a decision not to form the government even if it wins the vote.’’ He said the debate in Parliament would  expose UPA’s double standards on FDI. The Congress, when it was in the opposition, had strongly opposed FDI and, after coming  to power,  it betrayed the House by taking an  executive decision.
