Congress MP Manda Jagannadham on Sunday dropped enough hints that he was preparing to switch over to the TRS during the second spell of the budget session of Parliament which will commence on Monday.
If the Congress did not keep its promise of according statehood to Telangana, he and his fellow MPs in the party from Telangana might not continue in the party, the told a TV channel here on Sunday, the Nagarkurnool MP said and added that he did not think the Congress would deliver Telangana state.
Jagannadham predicted doom for the Congress in the 2014 polls if it continued to dilly-dally over the Telangana issue further.
According to sources, the MP plans to stage a demonstration in the Lok Sabha on Monday and Tuesday to invite suspension from the House. It will provide him an excuse to formally announce crossing over to the TRS.
“My fellow MPs in the Congress and I have decided to raise the Telangana issue in the Lok Sabha. We will demand that the Centre keep its promise. We won’t budge even in the face of suspension from the House,” he said.
As TRS chief K Chandrasekhar Rao is exerting pressure on the Telangana Congress MPs to join his party before April 27, the day of the 13th anniversary of the pink party, Manda is understood to have decided to join the TRS by then.
A senior Telangana Congress leader divulged that the crossing over of Siricilla Rajiah (Warangal) and G Vivekanand (Peddapalli) to TRS was also just a matter of time.
