Telangana Congress leaders okay Delhi model for Hyderabad

Days after AICC point man to the state Digvijaya Singh had mooted that  Hyderabad, which would be the joint capital of Telangana and Andhra states for 10 years, could be modelled after Delhi where law and order is handled by the Centre, Telangana Congress leaders said on Sunday  that they had no objecttion to the idea.

“We don’t mind if Hyderabad is made a joint capital for 10 years as per the Congress Working Committee’s decision. We don’t even object if the law and order in Greater Hyderbad is looked after by the Centre during that period,” they said.

Telangana Ministers, MLAs and MLCs of the Congress met at Club House in the Ministers’ Quarters here on Sunday under the leadership of deputy chief minister C Damodara Rajanarasimha, panchayat raj minister K Jana Reddy and former PCC chief D Srinivas.

Soon after the meeting, minister N Uttam Kumar Reddy told the media that they had decided to go to Delhi to meet the Antony Committee on Monday evening. He said they would demand formation of Telangana state at the earliest.

“We have prepared our arguments on issues such as sharing of river waters, status of Hyderabad and fate of Bhadrachalam division  for placing before the committee. We will urge the committee to ensure that the CWC resolution to form Telangana state is implemented as soon as possible.”

Uttam Kumar Reddy asked Seemandhras living in Hyderabad not to fear about their safety and security in Telangana state.

ABSENT:  Ministers Danam Nagender and M Mukesh Goud, who are known as Hyderabad Brothers, did not attend the meeting. Nagender told the media the other day that he and Mukesh were trying to seek a separate audience with the Antony Committee to discuss the status of Hyderabad.
