Kiran Writes to PM on Brijesh Tribunal

Chief minister N Kiran Kumar Reddy has sought an appointment with Prime Minister Manmohan Singh on December 19 or 20 for an all-party delegation from the state to represent the concerns of the farmers on the Brajesh Kumar Tribunal Award verdict.

He dashed off a letter to the Prime Minister to this effect on Friday.

The chief minister also sought the ministry of water resources to implead in the case filed by the state against the tribunal award.

‘’It is imperative for the water resources ministry to implead in the SLP 10498/2011 filed by the state government,” Kiran Reddy told the Prime Minister.

The chief minister had assured to lead an all-party delegation to the Prime Minister on the issue.

The chief minister informed the Prime Minister that there was a dissatisfaction among the farming community as well as political parties, as the decision of the tribunal will adversely affect the agrarian scenario in the state.

Kiran Reddy said in his letter that the tribunal gave no relief to AP or to the plea for distress-sharing sought by the Union government.

The decision of the tribunal has serious implications on the other disputes settled through various tribunals, as well as country’s interest in international waters, the letter said.
