Plaint against release of crocodile into Krishna

The Washermen’s Association lodged a complaint against the forest department for releasing a crocodile into the Krishna river. Senior advocates AV Ramana, Naraharasetti Srihari, N Maddiramaiah and  U Nagaraju filed the complaint in Lok Adalat on behalf of the association. The court issued notices to the forest officials asking them appear before it on March 2.

Adarsa Rajaka Seva Sangham chairman Kolluru Venkateswara Rao said a team of officials, led by forest officer BSVK Prasad, released a crocodile which was rescued in Nalgonda district, into the river at Ibrahimpatnam on January 5. He objected to the release of crocodile into the river as there are many bathing ghats downstream. The crocodile may pose a threat to people.

After its release, people living in the area are expressing fears to go to the river for bathing and washing clothes, he said.
