The HC on Monday directed the government to pay Rs 1,000 for its failure to file a counter-affidavit on a petition seeking CB-CID probe into alleged fraudulent allotment of government lands to freedom fighters and ex-servicemen.
A division bench comprising Chief Justice PC Ghose and Justice BN Rao Nalla was dealing with a public interest petition by R Satyanarayana, TRS politburo member, seeking time-bound review of all the claims pertaining to government lands, made by freedom fighters and ex-servicemen in Ranga Reddy, Medak, Nalgonda and Mahabubnagar districts since 2000. The counsel sought adjournment of the hearing. Not satisfied with the government’s request, the bench imposed costs of Rs 1,000 for failure.
