High Court moved against allotment of land to Anand Cine Services

A public interest petition has been filed in the High Court against allotment of 5 acres of valuable land in the city to Anand Cine Services.

The government allotted the land vide GOs 355 and 744 dated August 21, 2001 and Dec 26, 2008 respectively.

Petitioner K Umamaheshwara Reddy, a businessman, submitted that the state government had allotted the land, which is situated in the middle of the city and worth crores of rupees, to a private party  by charging a nominal price of Rs 8,500 per acre in the name of development of film industry. Though the government has power to alienate property in favour of others, the said power should not be exercised indiscriminately and cause loss to the state’s exchequer, he said.
