Andhra HC stays Guntur DCCB polls

The High Court on Wednesday stayed the election to the executive body of the District Cooperative Central Bank (DCCB), Guntur.

Justice Ramesh Ranganathan passed these interim orders in a writ petition filed by voters of the Primary Agricultural Cooperative Society (PACS), Santhagudipadu, in Guntur district. The petitioner contended that the government had put off the PACS elections and as a result they do not vote in DCCB polls.

Presidents of all PACS in the district form the electoral college to elect the managing committee of the DCCB. The petitioners said the GO issued by the state government staying the elections claimed that several representations have been received from various quarters that efforts are made by certain groups/parties to intimidate the voters.
