Telugu Desam Party president N Chandra Babu Naidu has demanded that the chief minister should take steps to release water to kharif crops in Guntur district.

In a letter to Kiran Kumar Reddy, Naidu said the government has promised to release water for ID crops during this season, but failed. Due to the lackadaisical policies of the state government, farmers are again running the risk of loosing standing crops due to lack of water, he alleged.

He said during his padayatra in Guntur district, farmers represented to him that under Nagarjuna Sagar ayacut, chilly crop is withering away as there is no water to wet the fields.

Likewise, under the delta area, large chunks of land sown with maize and other ID crops is dry and farmers are in distress.
