A goods train loaded with coal caught fire at the Ulavapadu Railway Station in Prakasam district on Sunday. However, firemen succeeded in extinguishing it within an hour.
Railways linemen working on the station outskirts noticed flames emanating from beneath the 13th wagon of the coal-loaded train. They informed about it to station staff who summoned firemen from the Kandukur Fire Station.
Firemen led by Fire Officer N Sudhirbabu controlled the flames within an hour. Sudhirbabu said they prevented flames from spreading to the other wagons.
