AICC State affairs incharge Digvijaya Singh on Friday offered some hope to the proponents of Rayala-Telangana State with a few cryptic remarks. Without ruling out such a possibility, he observed, “All such issues are within the purview of the Group of Ministers (GoM). The GoM is gathering the opinions of people and politicians. It is also collecting the views of various political parties.”
Speaking to reporters in New Delhi, he also announced that the draft Telangana bill will be sent to the State Assembly for its views in the fourth week of this month. His comments on Rayala-Telangana proposal assume significance as Congress leaders from Kurnool and Anantapur districts are once again moving heaven and earth for the merger of the two districts with the proposed T State. The MIM too is strongly pitching for carving out a Rayala-Telangana state out of Andhra Pradesh. Digvijaya Singh, however, did not go into details despite repeated queries and confined himself to the T process. “The Government of India is very serious about taking forward the process of bifurcation of AP at the earliest. So, I hope T bill will be sent to the Assembly in the fourth week of Nov,” he said.
Asked if the bill will be introduced in the Winter Session of Parliament, Singh replied, “I hope so.” The AICC general secretary also called upon the TDP, YSRC and CPM not to lose the opportunity of presenting their views on the concerns of Seemandhra before the GoM and asked them to attend the allparty meet slated for November 12 and 13. “I urge these three parties to attend the allparty meet and speak about the interests of Seemandhra before the GoM,” he said.
