Accusing the state government of failure to keep the promises made to poor and downtrodden people during the previous phases of Rachabanda, BJP state general secretary NVSS Prabhakar has said the government has no moral right to go for the third edition of the programme without ensuring that houses and other facilities  were sanctioned as promised.

Prabhakar, who began a 48-hour ‘Nirasana Deeksha’ at Ramanthapur here on Tuesday demanding sanction of Indiramma houses to the poor in the city and its suburbs, said  several thousands of applications submitted by people form poor and weaker sections in the previous two Rachabanda programmes were still pending with the government.

“The ruling party is playing with the lives of people. On the one hand it promises houses and, on the other, fails to deliver.

Thousands of urban poor are homeless and the government should allot houses to them,’’ he said and added that though the  Congress government’s term was coming to an end, many of its promises still remained unkept.

A large number of people, mostly women, turned up at the venue and voiced support for Prabhakar’s ‘Nirasana Deeksha’.
