TRS leaders tear Jagan's speech to shreds

Describing YSR Congress chief YS Jaganmohan Reddy’s speech during his ‘Samaikya Shankaravam’ as a self-serving political talk, TRS leaders slammed him for speaking lies to the deceive people of Seemandhra region.

Describing YSR Congress chief YS Jaganmohan Reddy’s speech during his ‘Samaikya Shankaravam’ as a self-serving political talk, TRS leaders slammed him for speaking lies to the deceive people of Seemandhra region.

Speaking to mediapersons at Telangana Bhavan on Sunday, TRS leader B Vinod Kumar said the real intention of Jagan were revealed in his speech, which is to gain political power by any means to earn more wealth. “He was more interested in political gain than keeping the state united, which was evident from his appeal for 30 seats in coming elections. His speech was for votes, seats and notes. But, the fact is that there will be two states by the time the 2014 elections are over and the Andhra Pradesh Formation Day celebration on November 1 will be the last such event,” he said.

Vinod said Jagan, Kiran and Chandrababu are competing with one another to gain power in Seemandhra. “People of Seemandhra should be wary of their intentions and elect those who think of the development in the Seemandhra region post-development,” he said.

The TRS leader said Jagan lacked conviction and did not get his facts right while speaking on water, Polavaram and Hyderabad.

“Sabari merges with Godavari near Polavaram and there is a lot of water. But Jagan asks where will Polavaram will get water from. No one with a head on his shoulders will speak like that,” he said.

Vinod also found fault with Jagan for stating investments have come down in Hyderabad. “It is only because of the fear of YSR and his son,” he said.

Jagan’s united AP stance has no ground, as it was his letter asking the Central government to act in accordance with Article 3 that had set the ball in motion. “Article 3 is for state reorganisation and by mentioning it, Jagan was asking for state division. If he was for integrated state, he should not have mentioned Artcile 3. Instead, he should have opposed state bifurcation in the letter,” he reasoned.

When asked about Jagan not mentioning either TRS or KCR in his speech, leading to speculation that there is an understanding between the two parties, Vinod dismissed it saying that speaking against Telangana is speaking against TRS and KCR.

TRS leaders K Tarakarama Rao and G Vivekananda said speaking against Telangana is the same as criticising the TRS. They too felt that Jagan’s speech was  a political discourse aimed at deriving electoral gains.

“Nowhere in his speech did Jagan mention as to what good it will do to Telangana people by keeping the state united, but focused entirely on what Seemandhara stands to lose after divsion, though the meeting was called Samikya Sankharavam,” they said.
