TJAC calls Telangana Bandh

In protest against the state government’s refusal to give permission for Shanti Rally by pro-Telangana forces in the city, the TJAC has given a call for Telangana Bandh on September 7.

The government has already given permission to APNGOs to hold ‘Save AP’ meeting at LB stadium in the city on the same day.

The TJAC has called upon government employees, lawyers, students, RTC employees, educational institutions, private organisations, farmers and others to organise protests in  all the districts of Telangana  against refusal of the government to permit Shanti Rally in Hyderabad. Speaking to reporters here on Thursday, TJAC chairman M Kodandaram, along with other members G Devi Prasad, Srinivas Goud and others, accused chief minister N Kiran Kumar Reddy of adopting partisan attitude and trying to stall the process of state bifurcation. “How can the chief minister give permission to APNGOs for holding a meeting in the city and deny permission to TJAC? This is nothing but an open abuse of power and partisan attitude of the chief minister,” they alleged.

“The government has given permission to APNGOs within four days to hold meeting but rules say one need to apply for permission at least 10 days in advance. We had applied for permission for peace rally much before the event and yet are denied permission,” Kodandaram alleged.

Accusing chief minister of driving a wedge between the peoples of different regions, the TJAC chief said the chief minister knew very well that giving permission to APNGOs to hold meeting in the city would create tension.
