Tension prevailed at the district court here on Thursday after police thwarted advocates’ attempt to hang the chief minister N Kiran Kumar Reddy and DGP Dinesh Reddy in effigy.

The advocates were protesting against the arrest of Telangana advocates in Hyderabad on Wednesday.

Around 100 members of the district bar association tried to hang the CM and the DGP in effigy. However, a team led by two town CI Vijay Kumar rushed to the spot and prevented the advocates.

Police tried to take the effigies into their custody and a scuffle ensued as the advocates resisted with slogans in favour of Telangana. After the scuffle, the protesters managed to take the effigies from the police and in a sudden action set them ablaze.
