The bandh by Samaikya Rastra Parirakshna Samithi (SRPS) passed off peacefully and was total with people of all sections voluntarily participating in it in Nellore and Chittoor districts.

State and Central government offices, banks, privates offices, business establishments, cinemas and hotels were shut down and most of the autos and other modes of tranport were off the road.

Nellore roads wore a deserted look for most part of the day.

The agitators took out rallies at various places. Employees and students under the banner of AP Employees’ Association staged a dharna at Gandhi statue.

Vehicular traffic came to a standstill on Chennai-Kolkata national highway with the agitators blocking the road at Baktavatsala nagar and Ayyappa temple centre for more than two hours. Trucks which are coming from distant places like Kolkata, Odisha and proiceeding towards Chennai faced harships as they were forced to stop on the higway for hours.
