With six more deaths confirmed by Srikakulam officials and five more by the Vizianagaram district administration on Thursday, the death toll from Andhra Pradesh in the Chennai building collapse incident rose to 33.

Srikakulam/Vizianagaram: With six more deaths confirmed by Srikakulam officials and five more by the Vizianagaram district administration on Thursday, the death toll from Andhra Pradesh in the Chennai building collapse incident rose to 33.

According to in-charge collector of Srikakulam G Veerapandiyan, A Rajesh and K Subbarao of Irapadu village of Kothuru, T Appala Narasamma and D Tavudu of LN Peta, D Padma of Balaseema village of Narasannapeta and U Ravi of Palakonda Water Tank colony died in the collapse of the 11-storey under-construction building. The collector said that K Krishnaveni of Gotta village of Hiramandalam and Ch Mahesh of Gudivada village of Kotabommali mandal are undergoing treatment at the Ramachandra hospital in Chennai. Ch Sujatha of Gudivada village of Kotabommali mandal and K Srinu of Gotta village of Hiramandal are yet to be traced.

Already 36 persons have been shifted from Chennai to their native villages and another 17 persons are coming on Friday. Ration for one month has been provided to the families, he said.

Meanwhile, according to reports from Vizianagaram, five bodies retrieved from under the rubble of the fallen building have been identified on Thursday as those belonging to workers from Vizianagaram district, taking the total number of dead from the district to 20.

K Thowdamma, P Gowreeswari and P Lakshmi of Krishnapuram village of Dattirajeru mandal, R Suryanarayana of Dalipeta village of Komarada mandal and N Janayya of Madalangi village of Komarada mandal.
