VISAKHAPATNAM: Minister of labour Kinjarapu Atcchannaidu has promised to take steps for re-opening of the Chittivalasa Jute Mill. Provident Fund payments for employees will be cleared in due course after holding discussing the matter with higher officials, he added.
Addressing a meet here Sunday, Atchannaidu said that the mill, which was closed four years ago, was a source of employment for more than 5,000 people who were now facing many problems. The minister said that he would take up the issue with the chief minister. He also mentioned that the government would take action on the mill management if it failed to agree for the meeting. Minister Ganta Srinivas Rao, district collector Solomon Arokyaraj and others were present.
