HYDERABAD: Indicating that the state capital would be coming up between Krishna and Guntur districts, Andhra Pradesh Minister for Urban Development P Narayana said that a high powered delegation would soon be visiting Singapore to study about infrastructure and other facilities needed to develop a world-class capital.

Speaking to reporters at secretariat here on Tuesday, Narayana said that the Singapore government had invited the state government to study their city and its infrastructure. “We want our capital to be world class and for this we would be sending a delegation to Singapore to study the requirements”, he remarked.

He said that as per their estimate to build a world class capital with all the required infrastructure and other basic amenities about Rs 1.5 lakh crore would be needed.

“Prime minister Narendra Modi had assured us that the Centre would help the state in developing a capital better than our national capital Delhi. With prime minister supporting us we are confident that the Centre would cooperate with us and help in all respect in building our new capital”, he said.

He said that his government was planning to create 184 km radius ring road across the new capital and set up all the prominent business establishments around it. The government would be developing about 12 smart cities in the state so that development takes place in all the regions of the state, he said.

Drinking water would be a matter of concern in the new capital as it would need about 30 tmc of water, he said and added that the government was looking into the issue.
