Inter Girl Hangs Self at College Hostel

An Inter second year student of the Sri Chaitanya Junior College, Gollapudi committed suicide

VIJAYAWADA: An Inter second year student of the Sri Chaitanya Junior College, Gollapudi committed suicide by hanging herself in the college hostel. According to the Bhavanipuram police, Devarakonda Swetha (17) from Anantapur district had been pursuing the MPC stream,  had failed in a subject in the first year and had been depressed ever since.

Swetha’s friends in the hostel found her hanging from the ceiling at 5 am and rushed her to Andhra Hospitals as she was still breathing. Following some preliminary tests, the doctord referred Swetha to the Government General Hospital (GGH). The doctors there declared her brought dead.

SI Ramakrishnudu said that a postmortem had been done and a case was registered under Section 174 (Suspicious death) of CrPC.
