Malayappa Swami Casts a Spell on Devotees during Visesha Puja

Devotees of Lord Venkateswara Swami were treated to the divine charm of Lord

VISAKHAPATNAM: Devotees of Lord Venkateswara Swami were treated to the divine charm of Lord Malayappa Swami Monday. Visesha Puja, the Monday-special weekly ritual, was performed to Malayappa Swami in the Swarnabharathi Indoor Stadium here.

Usually the ritual is performed in the temple of Lord Venkateswara at Tirumala on Mondays. After the second bell, the utsava vigraha (Processional Deity) was brought to the mandapam for ‘Chaturdasa Kalasa Visesha Puja’ i.e. puja with 14 kalasas. After seeking the permission of Sri Malayappa Swami, ankurarpana and punyaha vachanam were rendered by the priests. As Panchasuktas - Sri, Bhu, Nila, Purusha and Narayana Suktas - were recited, Tirumanjanam was performed to the utsav murti. Seven vessels out of the 14 had ginger oil, milk, curd, ghee, akshatalu (holy rice grains), darbha and panchagavya. The remaining seven vessels contained Sudhodaka (pure water).

Abhisheka Harati was performed to mark the culmination of the seva followed by purnahuti to conclude the homam. Naivedya (consecrated food) was offered to the Lord.
