Sri Prakash Students Shine in RBI Quiz

Students from nearly 80 schools across the city enthusiastically participated

VISAKHAPATNAM: Students from nearly 80 schools across the city enthusiastically participated in ‘RBI Q-14’, an inter-school quiz, organised by the Reserve Bank of India (RBI), Monday. The programme was conducted by quizmaster Pradeep Aatma Ram at the Mother Theresa Auditorium in GITAM University here Monday.

Sri Prakash Vidyaniketan won the first prize, and Chaitanya Public School the second prize, while the third prize was bagged by Vignan Vidyalayam High School.

In order to spread financial literacy and make schoolchildren understand the role of the RBI in terms of its banking operations, the Reserve Bank of India organised the quiz.

On the occasion, RBI regional director KR Das said that the aim of the programme was to focus on the RBI and the banking sector. He mentioned that the RBIQ focused on creating awareness among the student community on economics, finance and current affairs, contributing to the economic growth of the country.

Speaking at the inaugural function, GITAM University vice-chancellor G Subrahmanyam appreciated the RBI’s efforts to strengthen the economy. He hoped that the new RBI initiatives like mobile banking would bring the banking services to the rural masses.

The quiz consisted of questions pertaining to the RBI, Indian banking history and its achievements over the years, banking, accounting, finance, India’s economy, trade and commerce apart from general knowledge.

A written preliminary round was conducted first which had questions from the core areas of banking, finance and economy apart from current affairs.

Subrahmanyam and Das distributed the prizes among the winners and appreciated the students for their active participation.

RBI Chennai general manager (HR) RK Raut and assistant general manager ASV Kameswara Rao and GITAM Prof K Sivarama Krishna were present.
