115 Kg of Ganja Seized

More than 100 kg ganja was seized by the police from a car which was abandoned after it hit a lorry on the outskirts of the city in the early hours of Wednesday.

VIJAYAWADA: More than 100 kg ganja was seized by the police from a car which was abandoned after it hit a lorry on the outskirts of the city in the early hours of Wednesday.

According to the police, a Scorpio with three persons aboard hit a lorry from behind near SRK Engineering College in Enikepadu around 4 am. Patamata police, who rushed to the spot to inspect the accident site, in which one person was severely injured, was told by the eyewitnesses that the other two people fled the scene leaving behind the injured person.

“We checked the and seized 115-kg ganja loaded in the car. The injured person, Ravi Kumar, has been admitted to a private hospital in the city and is undergoing treatment,” Patamata SI Rahman Johnny said. The ganja, estimated to be worth `25 lakh, was packed in 50 small bags, each weighing about 2.2 kg.
