Two Burglar Gangs Busted; Cash, Property Seized

The crime department of the city police arrested six persons of two gangs, including a woman, here Wednesday and seized gold and cash worth Rs 3.75 lakh.

VISAKHAPATNAM: The crime department of the city police arrested six persons of two gangs, including a woman, here Wednesday and seized gold and cash worth Rs 3.75 lakh.

During investigation in a shop burglary case in Garava Kancherapalem area, the crime wing of Kancherapalem police station zeroed in on Koyya Manoj Kumar, Girijala Satish Kumar and Kiladi Simhadri, previously involved in burglary cases. On a tip-off, the police raided Koyya Manoj Kumar’s mother Jayalakshmi’s house, found the stolen property and arrested Jayalakshmi for keeping the stolen items in her house.

Deputy commissioner of police (Crime) J Muralidhar told newsmen here that Koyya Manoj Kumar, Girijala Satish Kumar and Kiladi Simhadri had stolen `1.8 lakh cash and 25 grams of gold ornaments from the shop of I Murali Krishna at Garava Kancharapalem on July 27. Muralidhar also said that out of the stolen money, the trio had already spent `20,000 and planned to go to Goa with the remaining money. The trio were arrested by the police on the Gnanapuram side of the railway station, and the cash and two gold ornaments seized.

In another case, the Three Town police arrested two members and seized Rs 1.45 lakh cash and 25 gram of gold ornaments from them. Muralidhar said that B Prasad and B Prabhakar from Parvathipuram in Vizianagaram district had formed a gang and had stolen around Rs 4 lakh cash and 120 grams of gold ornaments from a house near Peethalavanipalem area in the town.

Muralidhar said that the gang leader was at large and would be nabbed soon.
