VIJAYAWADA: The Andhra Chamber of Commerce and Industry (ACCI) has welcomed the decision of the state government to amend the Single Window Act to promote industrialisation in the state.
A press note issued by ACCI here Monday said that the draft amendment, however, does not portray any significant departure from the old one. Without revealing the relevant rules, the draft amendment does not inspire confidence in the entrepreneurs.
As the amendment to the Act is intended to promote industrialisation, penalties and proceedings on entrepreneurs are better avoided. Accountability and equity of government officers should be the hallmark of such an important amendment if ‘development’ is on the agenda, the press note added.
ACCI requested the state government to facilitate sincere interaction with all stake-holders to create a practical and fruitful legislation in the near future, and expressed apprehensions that in the absence of explanations, the draft Act may meet the same fate as the earlier one.
