VISAKHAPATNAM:  Noted film actors, writers, art-lovers and officials have hailed Bapu as the pride of Telugu people.

Paying rich tributes to the legendary film personality at a condolence meet organised by VUDA at Gurajada Kala Kshetram here Wednesday, they said Bapu had eft his footprints to be followed by generations of Telugu people.

Speaking on the occasion, noted writer and actor Gollapudi Maruti Rao described Bapu as a walking encyclopedia and store-house of versatility. “He is always worshipped as an ultimate guru by artists and cartoonists for his unique nature of creation,” he opined and added that no other director had filmed the Ramayana as Bapu.

Film actors Vankayala Satyanarayana Murthy, Kallu Chidambaram and Vizag Prasad recollected their memories of Bapu.

Praising the contribution of Bapu to the art and filmdom, VUDA incharge vice-chairman Satyanarayana said the legend was the brand ambassador of Telugu people.

The creativity of Bapu in cartooning, movie-making, painting or in any other area had become a path-breaking effort, he said.

The programme was conducted by VUDA PRO B Prabhakara Reddy. General secretary of Creative Comedy Club Meda Mastan Reddy coordinated the event.

EXEMPLARY BONDING TO BE IMMORTALISED

Keeping in view the strong friendship between Bapu and Ramana, the Greater Visakhapatnam Municipal Corporation (GVMC) has decided to install their statues on the Beach Road along with those of several other Telugu icons. Bapu has made 51 films in Telugu, Hindi and Tamil and all of them have contributed to the spread of human, social and ethical values in society.
