Rs 34 L Gold Seized from Air Passenger

VISAKHAPATNAM : In yet another case of gold smuggling through international flights, the customs officials nabbed a passenger at Visakhapatnam Airport on Wednesday night. They also seized two gold chains and a gold bracelet, all weighing 1,224 g and worth `34.34 lakh, from him. The accused was identified as Bommisetti Venkata Rosayya Kumar, who boarded the Dubai-Visakhapatnam Air India flight (AI 952) in Hyderabad on Wednesday.

The customs officials apprehended Kumar while he was trying to walk out through the green channel, meant for passengers without any dutiable goods. They seized the gold ornaments from his inner garments while examining his baggage, said Customs assistant commissioner (Airport) V Ramanadha Reddy.
