Master Plan Ready for 13k Villages: Ayyanna

GUNTUR: Panchayat Raj minister Ch Ayyanna Patrudu has said that a master plan has been prepared for the development of 13,000 villages in all the 13 districts in the state.

Speaking to reporters at the R&B office here Sunday, he said that under the ‘NTR Sujala’ scheme, the government would supply 20 litres of safe drinking water at Rs 2 in the villages from Oct 2. “In the initial stage, we shall implement the scheme in 5,000 villages and within three to four months it  will be extended to another 5,000 villages,” he said. Ayyanna Patrudu said, “The DWCRA groups in the villages will look after the RO plants under the supervison of the sarpanches..”

He further said that under NREGS, Rs 4,000 crore would be released by the Union government annually and half the money would be spent on the ‘Neeru Chettu’ programme and the rest would be allotted for the construction of Anganwadi buildings, dumping yards and roads in the villages.
