Former HC Judge Dead

HYDERABAD: Justice Upendralal Waghray, former judge of the AP High Court, passed away at his residence here on Thursday. He was 84 and survived by wife and three sons.

Justice Waghray was born in Hyderabad in 1930 and graduated from Nizam College and obtained a Law Degree from Osmania University. He enrolled as an advocate in 1953 and was associated with the leading lawyer Sadasiva Rao. He was appointed as permanent judge of the Andhra Pradesh High Court on Aug 31, 1983. 

After his tenure as high court judge between 1983 and 1991, he worked as Chairman of the AP Administrative Tribunal from 1992 to 1995. After retirement he was engaged in arbitrations of civil disputes. He was also the chairman of the AP Human Rights Committee which preceded the formation of the AP Human Rights Commission. Members of the legal fraternity offered condolences to his family.
