RTC to Ply 160 Special Buses to City for Dasara

VIJAYAWADA: Even as the Dasara festivities commence on September 25, the APSRTC has decided to run special buses from various destinations to Vijayawada for the convenience of pilgrims visiting the Kanaka Durga Temple.

The APSRTC will run 160 special services from Hyderabad, Chennai and Bangalore to the city and more than 350 buses from Guntur, Prakasam and West Godavari districts from September 26 to October 3.

The passengers who wish to travel in these buses have to pay 1.5 per cent extra fare per trip for long distances like Bangalore, Chennai and Hyderabad. “More buses will be operated on October 1 and 3 from Machilipatnam, Avanigadda, Gudiwada, Nuzvid, Tiruvuru and Jaggayyapeta as more number of devotees would visit the temple on ‘Mulanakshtram’ and ‘Vijaya Dasami’. Additional buses would be arranged as per the demand on the festive days,” APSRTC regional manager G Sudesh Kumar has said.

Advance reservation system is also available for special buses and pre-booking can be done at all bus stations. More than 80 buses will run till the end of October for the convenience of the passengers and the Vehicle Tracking and Passenger Information System would be implemented from October 15, he added.
