CM Announces Rs 2 Lakh Ex-gratia, Probe Ordered

VISAKHAPATNAM: Panchayat raj minister Ch Ayyanna Patrudu, who visited the accident spot, directed the police, GVMC, labour department and other officials concerned to probe the incident and assured the victims’ families of taking stringent action against the persons responsible for it.

District collector N Yuvaraj, who accompanied the minister, said a criminal case would be registered on the builders and the site engineer, who were not present at the site when the mishap occurred.

Meanwhile, the victims’ family members demanded that the police should arrest the builders and site engineers immediately. They also demanded compensation to the bereaved families.

Later in the evening, chief minister N Chandrababu Naidu announced an ex-gratia of Rs 2 lakh each to the next of kin of the deceased workers.
