5 of Six-member Gang Arrested in Attack Case

VISAKHAPATNAM : The city police arrested five persons of a six-member gang who attacked one KN Ananda Rao and his brothers with a sword and sticks in the city Thursday.

According to police, Ananda Rao’s brother Kona Govind, along with his friends, organised Vinayaka celebrations on a massive scale by erecting a 65-foot Ganesh idol. While Govind and his team were taking out a Ganesh idol immersion rally Wednesday night, a gang, led by Venkata Ramana Reddy, had heated arguments with them. Reddy and others alleged that Ananda Rao and his brother Govind misused the donations raised for the festival. Govind lodged a complaint against Ramana Reddy and five other members with the police.

Enraged by the complaint, K Venkata Ramana Reddy, K Karuna Kumar, K Roopesh and Ch Srinu and N Vamsi, and K Raju went to Ananda Rao’s restaurant ‘Seven Eleven’ at Satyam Junction and attacked Ananda Rao and his brothers with a sword and sticks.

DCP M Srinivasulu said that the police arrested five accused including Ramana Reddy while K Raju is still at large. The police opened rowdy-sheet against the accused and recovered the sword and sticks. A case was registered under Section 307 of IPC.
