Rs 4L to Kin of Wall Collapse Victims

VISAKHAPATNAM : The kith and kin of the labourers, who died in the tragic wall collapse mishap on the VIP Road in the city Thursday, will be paid `4 lakh each in addition to the compensation of `2 lakh each announced by the state government.

Visakhapatnam North MLA P Vishnu Kumar Raju held discussions with the builders on behalf of the bereaved families and convinced them to pay a compensation of `2 lakh to each family apart from an insurance amount of `2 lakh. All the four families lost their breadwinners and chief minister N Chandrababu Naidu had already handed over cheques worth `2 lakh each towards ex-gratia, on behalf of the state government, during his transit halt at Visakhapatnam Thursday.

Besides, the district authorities were asked to allot a house and issue a ration card to the families. The district collector also assured to provide education facilities to the children of the deceased.
